Calm Heart Meditation

This meditation brings you the following benefits:

  • It nourishes your heart from the inside out.
  • With practice, it improves your general breathing patterns so that you feel emotionally calmer throughout your day.
  • Your left hand over your heart creates deep stillness in your heart.
  • The position of your right hand throws you into action, but in a peaceful way.
  • It creates clear perception of your relationship with yourself and others, giving you the space to take the other into account and the capacity to act clearly and from your heart.
  • It calms your mind and emotions, especially if you are upset.
  • It brings excess mind energy down into your heart, giving you a greater sense of peace.
  • It strengthens your heart and lungs.

We captured this meditation during a weekend yoga retreat on video as part of series of online instructional Kundalini yoga films. The series was planned carefully, with a production plan and scripts prepared beforehand so that there was minimal disruption for the retreat participants. We left room for a few pickups and retakes, but essentially it was a simple one-camera shoot on location. We then edited the films, added captions and incorporated them online, with supporting materials such as downloadable worksheets and step-by-step .pdf guides, into a private members-only area of Sada Nam’s website – essentially they became digital products she could sell as a service to her clients worldwide.

Sada Nam was also one of my guests on the ‘Journeys’ iTunes series – listen to our interview and find out more about her work: Sada Nam Kaur: Kundalini Yoga Teacher, Coach & Expert in Social & Emotional Intelligence.
